Persian translation of ‘Abbas Kiarostami’ published

The Persian translation of a book titled ‘Abbas Kiarostami’ is published in Tehran.

Cheshmeh Publications has published the Persian translation of a book titled ‘Abbas Kiarostami’ about the Iranian legendary filmmaker.

Co-written by Iranian filmmaker Mehrnaz Saeed-Vafa and American critic Jonathan Rosenbaum, the book is translated by Yahya Nazari.

Originally published in English by University of Illinois Press in 2003, the book is an insightful study of Kiarostami’s life and works.

It also offers a cross-cultural dialogue between the Iranian and American writers, who both have a deep interest in Kiarostami’s works.

The veteran Iranian filmmaker who passed away on July 4, 2016, following a heart attack at the age of 76, was honored at this year’s Oscars ceremony in Los Angeles.

He is mostly known as a screenwriter, film editor, art director and producer as well as a poet, photographer, painter, illustrator, and graphic designer.

Kiarostami has won many awards including the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Festival in 1997 for his film ‘Taste of Cherry’.

The late writer-director has been widely hailed as a pioneer of the Iranian New Wave.

Kiarostami’s last film ‘Like Someone in Love’ (2012), a romantic drama set in Japan, was nominated for a Palme d’Or at Cannes.
